Subnautica 2 Vehicles & Equipment Guide 2026: All Vehicles, Depth Upgrades & Best Tools
I found the PRAWN Suit fragments, built it, and immediately walked it off the edge of the Grand Reef into the void. 4000 meters deep. No way back up. Vehicles in Subnautica 2 are precious — here's how to use each one without losing it.
Seatruck (early-mid game)
The Seatruck is your first vehicle and the backbone of mid-game exploration. Base depth: 150m. Mk1 module: 300m. Mk2: 650m. Mk3: 900m. Fabricator module: mobile crafting. Storage module: +48 inventory slots. Docking module: docks Prawn Suit for transport. Aquarium module: catches small fish passively while driving.
Essential Seatruck combo: Cabin + Storage + Fabricator + Docking. 4 modules total. More modules = slower speed. Don't attach every module — 4 is the sweet spot. Cabin alone at Mk3 depth can reach Lost River entrance. With Docking module + Prawn Suit: full endgame capable.
Seatruck defense: Perimeter Defense Upgrade (electrical pulse repels all creatures including Leviathans). Most important vehicle upgrade in the game. Afterburner (short speed boost — escape tool, not travel tool). Horsepower Upgrade (2% faster per module attached — mitigates module speed penalty).
Seatruck power: Power Cell (200 energy per cell). Solar Charger module (recharges in sunlight above 150m). Ion Power Cells (500 energy — endgame upgrade). Always carry 2 spare Power Cells in storage.
Prawn Suit (mid-late game)
Depth: 900m base → 1300m Mk1 → 1700m Mk2. Required for: drilling large resource deposits (copper, silver, gold, titanium), surviving Inactive Lava Zone (Seatruck max depth 900m vs Lava Zone 1300m+), fighting Leviathans (drill arm + grapple arm).
Essential Prawn upgrades: Grapple Arm (hook to surfaces, slingshot movement, fastest travel method in the game if you master it), Drill Arm (mine large deposits — primary resource gathering tool), Jump Jet Upgrade (longer hover, higher jumps — mandatory), Thermal Reactor (recharges power in hot zones — Lava Castle and Lava Lakes are unlimited power).
Prawn combat: Grapple onto Leviathan + Drill arm to face = dead Leviathan in ~3 minutes of drilling. This is the only way to kill Reapers without stasis rifle + thermoblade. Grapple + Drill is the ultimate fighting loadout.
Prawn danger: The suit walks. It sinks. It cannot swim up without jump jets and a nearby wall. Never walk off a cliff without a grapple anchor point. The void kills Prawn Suits instantly.
Seaglide (early game, always carry)
Speed: 9.5 m/s (swimming is 5.7 m/s). Range: 3km on full battery. Has built-in sonar map (toggle with F). Always carry a Seaglide. Even with vehicles — when a Reaper grabs your Seatruck and throws it 200m, you swim back with Seaglide.
Essential tools crafting order
Priority 1: Scanner (scans everything, unlocks blueprints — first tool you should build). Survival Knife (harvest creepvine, coral samples, defend against small predators). Fins (swim speed +15%). Standard O2 Tank (+30 seconds oxygen = 75 total).
Priority 2: Repair Tool (repair vehicles and base after creature attacks). Laser Cutter (opens sealed doors in wrecks — where all the good blueprints are). High Capacity O2 Tank (+90 seconds). Rebreather (removes depth-based oxygen penalty — mandatory below 100m).
Priority 3: Ultra High Capacity O2 Tank (+180 seconds oxygen — combined with rebreather for deep exploration). Stasis Rifle (freezes any creature for 15 seconds — including Leviathans). Thermoblade (cooks fish on kill — never eat raw fish again).
Priority 4 (nice to have): Propulsion Cannon (grab and throw objects/creatures). Repulsion Cannon (upgraded propulsion — throws harder). Air Bladder (emergency rapid surface — early game only, outclassed by Seaglide).
Depth progression path: Surface → Seamoth Mk1 (300m) → Mk2 (650m) → Seatruck Mk3 (900m) → Prawn Mk1 (1300m) → Prawn Mk2 (1700m). Don't skip depth modules. Finding nickel (Lost River) is the gate to Prawn Mk2.
